Stacy Lee - President, Undergraduate Student Association Council (USAC) Blanca Madrigal - External Vice President, American Indian Science & Engineering Society

Noluthando Lisa Denise Williams - Chair, African Student Union The Evolution of the PluralNet Team
Through the Tao of Teamwork Our PluralNet team evolved by cultivating our minds with increased information. We limited our desire to
solve the problem of increasing diversity at UCLA and focused on raising awareness of efforts made by student groups and administration.
We jumped in with our input freely. We were not intimidated, nor embarrassed to share and ask questions because we accepted and respected our teammates. We evolved because we acted without
self-interest for the success of the team. We evolved because we recognized the subtle power of
Tao. No one team member usurped more power than the other because the evolved team realizes the more subtle the use of power, the greater its effects. We were pleased with our preliminary presentation, but we were cautious not to dwell on this success. Evolved team members know that to stop and admire
one's accomplishments for too long fosters decline. We knew we still had more to accomplish.
The process is what gave us knowledge and the process was not a burden because the responsibilities were shared.
We evolved as we established trust as a result of the presence of ease. No one person was overbearing because we realize team leadership is a subtle influence. We evolved because the calm made our
group meetings a good place to be. We did not mind meeting weekly. Afterall, the evolved team members create a calm that serves as the foundation of the team. We evolved because we realized how much we needed each other. The evolved team members consider the interdependent connections of all team relationships.
We have evolved as Team PluralNet because we learned how to guide events. We guided the problem based learning(PBL) project through to completion
through combined efforts. This PBL event began with each of us and comes to a close with each of us. last updated 6/99 |
