Vietnam's
image is the focus of a government campaign which addresses charges of
corruption. Corruption within the Communist Party had tainted the party's once-unsullied
image among the Vietnamese. Also, it was determined that corruption was detrimental
to foreign investment and was responsible for creating a distrust of authority
within Vietnamese society. Member's of the Communist Party were ordered to hold
self-criticism sessions and to stop visiting massage parlors and karaoke bars.
