A campaign to link regional historical sites in Laos, Burma, Cambodia, and Thailand may also include Vietnam. In ancient times, the countries made up the "Suwannaphumi" or "Golden Peninsular" region and tourism officials are proposing the creation of a single visa for visitors to the countries of the Golden Triangle. The officials hope that collaboration will "offer a common face to the world" since the area shares many fesitivals and historical sites. Vietnam officials hope to add the ancient city of Hue to the scheme which will link Thailand's Grand Palace in Bangkok, Cambodia's Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Laos' Luang Prabang, and Burma's Mandalay.
