Working With SPSS for Mac OS XDue to a bug in SPSS for Mac OS X, Mac users accessing and modifying SPSS data on the shared.gseis.ucla.edu research server may find themselves unable to save changes to SPSS files. In order to work with SPSS files, Mac users can employ two different strategies: saving the data under a different file name or copying the file down to your computer before working on it. ETU recommends saving your data under a different file name as the safest way to ensure the continuity of your data. Files can then be renamed or deleted as necessary. It is important to note that if files are copied down to your computer, modified and then copied back to the server, they will replace the original file. Any changes to the original made by someone else after you copied it from the server will be lost when you replace it. Getting HelpFor questions regarding file permissions and SPSS for Mac OS X, please contact the ETU at (310) 825-1911 or by emailing etu@gseis.ucla.edu. |
