GSE&IS Supported Macintosh Software

Faculty and Staff

The Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, through ETU, provides and supports the following Macintosh software for use on school premises by faculty and staff:

• Microsoft Office 98, v.X, or 2004 (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Apple Mail.app
• Adobe Reader
• FileMaker Pro
• Communications software:
• Netscape Navigator 6.x, 7.x
• Safari 1.x, 2.x
• Fetch
• Better / Nifty Telnet
• TN3270 (AIS access only)
• Apple Remote Access v. 3.0 and above
• SPSS v. 11.x (faculty only / installation support only) Please note: Installation requires Mac OS X 10.2.x and a minimum of 128 MB of RAM..

Support of these products is limited to computers purchased with School funds; software for machines purchased with personal or extramural funds must be purchased by the individual or through a grant. Additional software may be provided for administrative or instructional purposes, depending on cost and long-range utility.

Students

The following Macintosh software is provided for the two School labs, 3120 Moore Hall and 118 GSE&IS:

• Microsoft Office v.2004 (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Adobe Reader
• FileMaker Pro
• Communications software:
• Safari 1.x, 2.x
• Netscape Navigator 7.x
• Internet Explorer 5.x
• Fetch
• Nifty Telnet

As a convenience to the students, the following software is installed in the labs. Please note: the following programs are not supported.

• AppleWorks
• BBEdit Lite
• Java MathWorlds
• PIE 97
• Say Say Oh Playmate
• SPSS 11 for Mac OS X
• Stata
• BGuile 2.4
• Thinker Tools

Please Note: Support for SPSS is not provided by ETU. It must be obtained from the ATS or from your professor.

ANY OTHER SOFTWARE IS NOT SUPPORTED

Faculty

The Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, through ETU, provides and supports the following Windows 2000/XP software for use on School premises by faculty and staff:

• Microsoft Office 2000/2003
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x
• SPSS 11.x/12.x (install support only)

ANY OTHER SOFTWARE IS NOT SUPPORTED

A Note Regarding Bruin Online:

Eudora and Apple Mail.app are both installed in the GSE&IS computer labs to enable students to read their Bruin Online email.
