2008-2009
The Education Studies minor is
intended to address the diverse information needs of the UCLA undergraduate
community to (1) allow students to learn more about the multitude of contemporary
professional research issues confronting the field of education, (2) help
understand the complex interactions between the legal, social, political, and
economic forces which influence and shape educational policies in America, (3)
provide an introductory course sequence for students who wish eventually to
pursue careers in education either as teachers or researchers, and (4) provide
an analysis of current educational practices.
ENTRANCE
REQUIREMENTS:
For
admittance to the minor, students must:
á
Have
at least Sophomore standing with a minimum C+ (2.30) cumulative G.P.A.
á
Complete
at least TWO
Education courses prior to applying for the Minor; one of which must be a core
course (Transfer students need to have completed one Education course and have
one in progress at the time of application submission).
á
Submit
a completed application for admission AND a Degree Progress Report (DPR) or an
unofficial transcript to the Office of Student Services, Room 1009 Moore Hall,
by the deadline date. No late applications will be accepted.

PROGRAM
REQUIREMENTS:
Students
must satisfy both the core and elective areas listed on the back. Substitutions for elective credit are
considered by petition only.
Students must follow the program of study provided at the time of
admission to the ESM Program. The Education Studies Minor requires the
completion of seven courses:
PLEASE
NOTE: You may use
no more than one of the following courses to count as one of your three
elective requirements: EDUC 80, 92A, 92B, 92C, 92D, 92E and 92F. The remaining
two electives should be selected from the list of additional elective courses
offered in the ESM Program. This is to ensure a balanced elective program of
study.
