Crystal Stairs is a nonprofit child care and development agency that has received a First 5 LA Grant for the purpose of assisting family child care providers and center-based classrooms in preparing for and qualifying to meet accreditation standards.  In this evaluation study, a cohort of providers who are receiving the accreditation assistance is compared with a waiting-list control group. The control group of providers receives assistance the following year. Providers’ programs are observed at the beginning and end of the assistance period, and their progress in quality improvement is evaluated.
