Project Summary

Santa Monica College received funding through First 5 LA to provide training to early childhood teachers and caregivers using a Mentor-Protégé model. Twenty mentor teachers, who were selected for their experience and expertise, worked together with protégé teachers/providers to improve the quality of child care services, including both material aspects and adult-child interactions. CICCQ staff evaluated the effects of this training model by conducting observations using established quality measures and reviewing the completion of professional development goals.
