Project Summary

The purpose of the project is to assist the Los Angeles County Office of Child Care in assessing and improving the quality of child care in the County by identifying quality improvement needs, and providing technical assistance and training on projects targeted to meet these needs.

The Center for Improving Child Care Quality provides training and guidance for child care programs in using the Early Childhood, Family Child Care, and Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scales (ECERS, FCCERS and ITERS) for self-assessment, professional development, and program improvement.  Training is provided to child care center managers and directors and to owner/operators of licensed family child care homes. The trainings include an orientation and introduction to the measure, video-based practice and instruction in how to use and score the measure, and a field practice session or a practice session at the provider’s own child care site.
