Sax. L. J. & Arredondo, M. (1999). Student Attitudes Toward Affirmative Action in Higher Education: Findings From a National Study. RESEARCH IN HIGHER EDUCATION, 40 (4): 439-459.

Using a national sample of over 277,850 college freshmen, this study examines attitudes toward affirmative action in college admissions separately for four racial/ethnic groups: Whites/Caucasians, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans. For each group, analyses address the extent to which opposition to affirmative action is driven by factors such as self-interest, political ideology and attitudes about race/ethnicity. Findings suggest some differences in how these factors operate across different racial/ethnic groups.
