The Liberation of Everyday Life
by Juli Jiyoung

Fed up with the banality of the workplace and the moral bankruptcy
of late modern capitalism, a shy, disgruntled office worker named
Echo Park decides to throw her shoe in the works after being inspired
by third world revolutionary writers to de-colonize her mind. A dark
comedy about the pitfalls and
joys of theory vs. practice.

Production Note by Juli Kang:
Professor
Peter McLaren plays a Marxist Professor turned spiritual guide in the
movie. When Echo has nowhere else to turn to for advice, he reminds her
of the power she has within herself to transform the world. This is what
he does every day with his students and his writing.
Comments by Peter
McLaren:
Working with director Juli Kang on this film reaffirmed my faith
in the creative ability and political determination of the
current generation of artists and filmmakers to serve as agents of social
transformation by taking up the struggle for liberation and freedom in
new
and powerful ways. Kang combines the enduring message of Third World
revolutionaries with contemporary struggles of young people seeking to
overcome
the alienation and exploitation of late capitalist society.
