The Research Guide will consist of an introduction, a general guide to obtain demographic data on Asians in the Americas, and a Country section. The Asian groups included in this research are Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Indians and Javanese as these were the groups which migrated in significant numbers. Filipinos merchants who were known to trade in the area now known as Mexico pre- and early-colonization are not included in this project. Each country section will include:

(Note: Countries selected to be covered are: Canada, US, Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, British Guyana, Cuba, Peru, and Brazil.  Other countries will be added as data and time allow.  The format for US and Canada will focus on census data.  If possible for Web, we will have a map that will link to the individual country profiles.)

  • Country - link country name to respective country information on CIA World Factbook; provide information from CIA World Factbook on "ethnic groups," "religions," and "languages."

    • Demographic and historical information as time and data allow
