The following instructions apply to OS X's mail client called Mail. If you are using Entourage please go to this page.

When you launch Mail for the first time you will get this box.

Enter the following settings:

• Full Name: Your name
• Email address: Your email address
• Incoming mail server: mail.gseis.ucla.edu
• Account type: IMAP
• Username: Your username (the part of the email address to the left of the @ sign)
• Password: Your password
• Outgoing mail server: mail.gseis.ucla.edu

You may get two error messages. Click Continue to each of them.

Under the Mail menu select Preferences

Click on Accounts

Under the Account Information tab change Description to GSE&IS Mail

Click the Server Settings button

Change the server port to 465

Check the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) box

Change Authentication to Password

Enter your username and password in the User Name and Password boxes

Click OK

Click the Special Mailboxes tab

Uncheck Store Deleted Messages on the Server

Click the Advanced tab

At the bottom, change the port to 993

Check the Use SSL box.

Change Authentication to Password
Close the Preferences window.
