The following instructions apply to Outlook Express 5.02 or newer, Entourage, or Entourage X.

Under the Tools menu, select Accounts.

Click New

Select IMAP and click OK.

Account name: GSE&IS Mail

Name: Your name

Email address: Your email address

Account ID: Your username (the part of the email address to the left of the @ sign)

IMAP server: mail.gseis.ucla.edu

Password: Enter your password here and check the Save password box. If you want to have to enter it each time you check your mail then don't enter it.

Click on the Click here for advanced receiving options button.

Check the box next to This IMAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) or This POP Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL), depending on which one you see.

Click the small box at the upper-left hand corner of the pop-up window to close the window.

Change the SMTP server to mail.gseis.ucla.edu

Click on the Click here for advanced sending options button.

Check the box next to SMTP server requires secure connection (SSL)

Check the box next to Override default SMTP port and enter 465 in the box

Check the box next to SMTP server requires authentication, then click Use the same settings as incoming mail server.

Click the box at the upper-left hand corner of the pop-up window, then click OK to close the Edit Account window.

Note: If you don't see any of the secure connection (SSL) options listed then you are using an old version of Outlook Express and you must upgrade to be able to continue.

Changing your directory settings

Under the Tools menu, select Accounts. Click the Directory Service tab.

Double click on the GSE&IS LDAP entry.

Change the LDAP server to directory.gseis.ucla.edu

Click the Options tab.

In the Search base field type: ou=Users

Click OK.

Close the Accounts window.
