elcome. A great debate is unfolding
between those who see new informational technology as the key to solving
the problems of education, employment, and social inequality, opposed
to those who see this as a siren song, detracting from the real problems
of social and human life.
To investigate these issues requires theorizing technology and discussing
the ramifications of new information and communication technologies
in the economy, politics, education, culture, and everyday life.
We invite you to participate in this
debate and we offer this interactive virtual seminar with the hope that
it will serve as a valuable reference tool, even as it presents itself
as a progressive pedagogical model of how one might dialectically overcome
technophilic / technophobic oppositions.
