Hangings Fuel Sectarian Split Across Mideast

Bush's insane Iraq invasion could fuel Civil War throughout the MidEast; not only are Sunnis mad about hangings but they attack Baghdad University yesterday, killing scores; Shia guarding students vow revenge; now we hear that Saudis are starting to send more arms and support to Sunnis and may move troops into south of Iraq; we know that Iran is helping the Shia; Bush has created a more historical disaster....

Is Energo-Fascism in Your Future?

scary view of future by energy industry expert Michael Klare. A thought I've had is that dropping oil prices might lead energy industry thugs like the Bush administration honchos, that are part of the industry themselves, to stir up the pot in Iraq and even attack Iran to create instability in the oil industry and drive up prices and profits....

The U.S.-Iran-Iraq-Israeli-Syrian War

Here's the best analysis of what's behind Bush's latest Iraq fiasco and the saber-rattling toward Iran and Syria. Bush has in place a lunatic militarist clique prepared to widen the war to Iran and has carrier ships, patriot missiles, and troops moving to sustain such an expansion. The US has invaded Iranian and Iraqi offices twice in the last week to arrest suspected Iranian agents, get computers, etc. This is a very dangerous moment for the US and world in general. As Robert Parry emphasizes in off the cuff conversations with NBC reporters Bush has made it clear that he has a paranoid and deluded world view and is ready to expand war in the Middle East, the Iraq "surge" could be a smoke-screen....

Robert C. Solomon Sept. 14, 1942 - January 2, 2007

Bob was a great colleague and friend and I'll miss him forever. He embodied Nietzchean joie de vivre and rejected l'esprit de serieux that plagues many philosophers. Equally committed as a teacher and scholar, he touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who came to know him.
