Relief International
CIDE is a partner with California-based NGO Relief International (www.ri.org). Relief International is a humanitarian, non-profit agency providing emergency relief, rehabilitation, and development assistance to victims of natural disasters and civil conflicts worldwide. RI endeavors to bridge the gap between immediate emergency relief and long-term community development, through innovative programming that is multi-sectoral and grassroots-based, that promotes self-reliance and the peaceful reintegration of populations, and encourages the input of and participation from targeted groups such as women, children and the elderly, whose special needs are often neglected in disasters.

Teacher Education Reform in Ethiopia Consortium
Teacher Education Reform in Ethiopia is the third CIDE partnership, with USAID, the Ethiopia Ministry of Education, and five other US universities. The program is concerned to support recent educational policy directions through (1) the various initiatives of BESO-II which focuses primarily on the infrastructure development of TTIs and TTCs, (2) cooperation with UNESCO in a distance education program to enhance the capacity of teacher educators, (3) linkages with various universities to strengthen both the capacity of teacher educators and of the institutional setting where they work, and (4) other means. For more information, visit the program's website at www.gwu.edu/~ethiopia.
