Organizations
The
American Association of Community Colleges
AACC is the primary
advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The association represents
more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students.
Their web page provides information on the Association's conferences, workshops
and other activities, as well as current updates on legislation affecting education.
The association has 19 affiliated councils representing community college professionals
in a variety of fields.
California
Postsecondary Education Commission
This site provides information regarding California Community Colleges including
admissions, residency requirements, cost of attendance, housing, governance,
and administration.
Center
for Community College Policy
The Center,
based at the Education Commission of the States in Denver, conducts research
and analysis; serves as a clearinghouse for state officials, college
leaders and the media on issues of community college policy at the state
level; and organizes national, regional and state-level workshops around
issues of community college policy.
Community
College National Center for Community Engagement
The Center
is a leader in advancing programs and innovations that stimulate active
participation of institutions in community engagement for the attainment
of a vital citizenry.
Community
College Research Center
Housed in the
Institute on Education and the Economy at Teachers College/Columbia University,
the Community College Research Center's mission is to frame critical questions
concerning the fundamental purposes, problems, and performance of community
colleges, and to chart a course of strengthening scholarly research on
the future of these institutions. Current research projects include workforce
development, nursing programs, dual credit programs, high school/community
college connections, and developmental education.
Council
for the Study of Community Colleges
CSCC, an affiliate
council of the American Association of Community Colleges, is the premier
organization of university-based researchers and community college practitioners
who further scholarship on the community college enterprise. It sponsors
an annual conference and facilitates networking between scholars interested
in community colleges.
IPEDS College Opportunities On-Line
This site was created by the National Center for Education Statistics
in the U.S. Department of Education and gives students access to nearly
7,000 colleges and universities in the United States including large
universities, small liberal arts colleges, specialized colleges, community
colleges, career or technical colleges or trade schools.
The
League for Innovation in the Community College
The League for Innovation
in the Community College is a non-profit educational consortium of
leading community colleges organized to stimulate innovation and experimentation
in all areas of community college development. Founded in 1968 the
League serves as a catalyst, project incubator, and experimental laboratory
for community colleges throughout the United States and Canada.
National Center for
Education Statistics
The National Center for
Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting
and analyzing data that are related to education in the United
Statesand other nations. The NECS gathers
and analyzes data on the state of education in America and
disseminates its findings through annual publications, both on the
Internet and in hard copy.

Community College Chair Academy
The Chair Academy
focuses on preparing community college leaders for their dual role
as manager and administrator on the one hand and faculty member/advocate
on the other.
